Meghan Markle Moved To LA During A Pandemic Just To Pay Less Taxes?!

Ever since we heard Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had secretly moved from Canada to Los Angeles, we have been scratching our heads trying to figure out why now??

We’ve heard for months they were planning on eventually going full Hollywood, but surely not in the middle of a global pandemic!

We mean, they left the safety of a mansion on Vancouver Island, British Columbia for one of the hottest spots in the country — with a baby in tow, no less! We heard they were just trying to beat the border closing, hence the speed, but still — the question is WHY was it so important they get there so fast??

Royal insiders told The Sun they were “stunned and horrified” at the surprise move. However, on Friday the outlet found some insiders close to the couple on this side of the pond, and they had a very different insight. A very American one as it turns out.

An insider said the couple had intended to base themselves in the Great White North as they originally said:

“Initially Harry and Meghan wanted to be based in a Commonwealth country — Canada — and earn their own money while still performing some royal duties. But their plan very quickly fell apart.”

Why? The answer to 99 out of 100 questions — money! The source explained:

“They were told getting work visas in Canada would be difficult and because Meghan remains a US citizen — so is taxed on her worldwide income — she would end up paying in the US and Canada.”

OMG! They’re really saying the Duke and Duchess made their decision all over money? Well, it’s probably why most people move tbh…

The last straw was something we learned about back in February:

“Then the Canadian government made it clear they would not contribute to their security costs so it made much more sense to live in Hollywood and only pay US tax.”

Clearly they’re planning on making some bank here if they’re worried about tax so much, and not charity either.

Well, they came to the right place for low taxes for the rich — unfortunately that economic obsession has taken priority over things like safety in case of pandemics, so this really may be one of the least safe places to be right now.

Maybe they should have just waited and paid a higher rate for a few more months?
