‘Miss Americana’ Director Responds to Taylor Swift Engagement Rumor

People have been speculating whether the ‘You Need to Calm Down’ songstress is engaged to her boyfriend Joe Alwyn after she’s seen wearing a ring on her left finger in the documentary.

AceShowbizTaylor Swift‘s documentary “Miss Americana” possibly sheds light on her personal life more than she expected to. Ahead of the film’s premiere on January 31, several previews have been released for fans’ viewing pleasure and they feature a major engagement clue.

In one scene when the 30-year-old singer talks about her political stance, she gets emotional while discussing her disapproval of Republican Senator-elect Marsha Blackburn, who hails from her home state of Tennessee. As she proclaims, “I want to be on the right side of history,” she gestures her with her hands, revealing a ring on her left finger.

The glimpse of the sparkler is enough to make Swifties start speculating if the country-turned-pop superstar has gotten engaged to her British actor boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

While Taylor has not commented on the engagement rumor, Lana Wilson who directed the documentary has addressed the speculation after the film’s premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Apparently being caught off guard with the discovery of the engagement hint and the question, the director said, “Whoa. I’m going to have to revisit that scene.”

This isn’t the first time Taylor and Joe were said to have been betrothed. The “Shake It Off” hitmaker sparked the same rumor with the title song of her latest album “Lover”. In the single, she sings, “I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover” and “My heart’s been borrowed and yours has been blue,” which sound like wedding vows and appear to hint at their imminent nuptials.

As the lovers continue to keep their romance low-key, they have never addressed the engagement rumor. Joe, however, has talked about being the inspiration of Taylor’s love songs, saying that “it’s flattering.”

Taylor’s “Miss Americana” will arrive on Netflix. The documentary is billed to give “a raw and emotionally revealing look at Taylor Swift, one of the most iconic artists of our time as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice.”
