Monty Don has taken to social media and attempted to solve a viewer’s issue, amid claims of inconsistent gardening advice. The Gardeners’ World presenter took the opportunity to offer the Twitter user a solution with a cheeky quip.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, the person in question explained that Monty’s gardening advice is different to experts they followed over two decades ago.

They wrote: “How often should you update your #gardening books?

“Early on I had followed advice in the different ‘EXPERT’ guides which are 20+ years old, but watching @TheMontyDon his advice is often different (e.g. timings on pruning, dead-heading etc.) #garden.”(sic)

The Gardeners’ World host offered a simple solution to resolve the viewer’s dilemma.

In view of his 231,000 followers, Monty replied: “I suggest buying all my books on a regular basis #problemsolved.”
