Neil Jones: ‘Couldn’t even walk’ Strictly pro reveals truth about injury amid show absence

Neil Jones, 37, spoke out about his painful injury in view of his 72,000 Twitter followers after he was unable to perform on Strictly Come Dancing last night. The professional dancer, who was replaced by Kevin Clifton, 37, following an accident which took place just before the live show, admitted he “couldn’t even walk” yesterday. Neil revealed the truth about the extent of his injury after a Strictly viewer expressed their “disappointment” over his inability to dance with his celebrity partner Alex Scott. They wrote: “@Mr_NJones disappointing to learn that it was just a tight calf muscle which stopped you dancing.

“With physio, being a pro I would have expected you to keep with tradition, the show must go on.”

However, Neil was quick to clarify details about his condition in response.

“I wish it was just a tight muscle and I’ve performed with a ripped muscle and a hernia but last night I physically couldn’t even walk,” the Ballroom and Latin dancer insisted.

The Twitter user seemed satisfied with Neil’s explanation, as they wrote back: “Fair enough, commentary on results show gave me the wrong info.

“Hope it recovers quickly so you can train and dance with Alex this next week.”(sic)

During the Results Show, which aired tonight, Neil addressed his injury and said: “During rehearsals, all of a sudden I felt that my calf muscle went really tight and then I just couldn’t move anymore.”

Earlier this evening, Katya Jones’ ex congratulated Alex on making it through to next week’s show due to her Ghostbusters themed performance with Kevin.

He gushed: “BOOM SHE DID IT massive thank you to everyone that supported @AlexScott last night.”

The Strictly favourite then took the opportunity to thank Kevin for stepping in for him at the last minute.

He added: “@keviclifton we have been mates for over 25 years and you were there again for me.

“You are now part of our @bbcstrictly journey and part of #teamred I’m going to rest up and recover ASAP.”(sic)

Former Arsenal footballer Alex also celebrated her victory in view of her 236,000 Twitter followers and sent get well wishes to Neil.

She wrote: “Yassssss.. Yassssss & Yasssssss.

“Can’t thank you all enough for the support once again to see us through! What a weekend!

“@keviclifton you absolutely ledge… @Mr_NJones we managed to do that one for you…”

She concluded: “Now rest up and sending you all those healing vibes to get better.”(sic)
