NYSE tried to lowball Darlene Love for Christmas performance

The New York Stock Exchange tried to sell Darlene Love short.

Love told Page Six that she felt “disrespected” because the NYSE asked her to perform her famed holiday hit, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” at their 96th annual Christmas tree lighting this December — but won’t even pay for a car to pick her up.

She had agreed to perform the holiday classic for free, but “requested ground transportation to be provided since she lives an hour away in Rockland County,” an insider tells us. “The marketing director said they’re not allowed to compensate talent for performance, travel, hotel, [but that they] may be able to get an exception for $500 to cover a portion of her car.” The source told us they “said she should do it for exposure.”

Love told us, “At this stage of my career, I don’t need any more exposure — just respect.” She added, “My time and value is worth more than $500 to hang out at the NYSE for seven hours for free with a bunch of millionaire stock brokers. They can at least cover my travel expenses. This is insulting! Maybe they should watch ’20 Feet From Stardom,’” the 2013 documentary that highlights her career.
