Martin Roberts thanks fans for their messages of support
Homes Under The Hammer presenter Martin Roberts experienced uncomfortable chest pains last year.
The former I’m A Celeb star revealed that he was just hours from death after he learned that he was suffering from pericardial effusion, which is a build-up of fluid in the structure around the heart.
Martin, 59, spoke candidly about his health woes as the property expert admitted “life isn’t perfect” as he shared an update.
Speaking about the moment he was taken to hospital, he explained: “The wondering what’s going on. The fear of what’s happening to you illness-wise.
“Is this how it’s going to be forever?”
He continued: “Just before I went into hospital I was like an old man having to walk two or three steps and then having to stop. I would pant and wheeze and have to sit down.
“You go through this mindset that this is ok when it’s not ok at all.
“So looking back you have this build up and when it all happens there is this elation after that you found out what it was and you were in the right place at the right time.”
In April 2022, Martin was rushed off to hospital as he experienced uncomfortable chest pains.

The TV star opened up about life one year after being hospitalised.
“There is this period, lull, we you are just happy to be alive,” he explained. “You’re trying to get your head around what’s happened.”
He went on: “You want everything that follows in life to be perfect because every day is a bonus.
“I call it a near-death experience because I could have died. It is that serious. A lot of people feel the same as me. The mental stumbles start to kick in.”
Martin added: “You want every day to be perfect and of course it’s not. You have to go to Tescos, take the kids to school. Life is full of ups and downs.”
Meanwhile, the BBC favourite has big plans to renovate a derelict pub located in Blaencwm in Wales.
