London-based label Drake’s has opened the doors to its all-new New York location, taking inspiration from the artist’s studios that once occupied the neighborhood. The “Open Studio” theme is referenced through the design of the space itself, as well as a curated schedule of exhibitions and artwork on display.
The store itself features a range of movable and functional fittings, which can spin, slide and pivot to change the space. These fittings also include industrial-style trolleys, platforms and storage units that will display Drake’s seasonal collections, as well as its Perennials drops.
Launching the space, Drake’s creative director Michael Hill said, “New York has always felt like a second home and a constant source of inspiration for us at Drake’s. To be able to open a space on Canal and work alongside some of our favourite artists and collaborators is hugely exciting.”
The first artist to exhibit work is Brooklyn-based b. chehayeb, who’s work will be on display at the Drake’s “Open Studio” space until November 21.
