Forza Motorsport reboot due for summer shadow drop hints Xbox

Xbox has warned fans to get ready for Forza Motorsport this summer, but do they mean a preview, a demo, or the game itself?

Back before Forza Horizon took over, Forza Motorsport used to be Microsoft’s premier driving game – a more serious simulator aimed at being a direct rival to Gran Turismo.

It was relatively successful as such but there hasn’t been a new one since 2017, as Microsoft concentrated on Forza Horizon, and while they did announce a reboot in 2020 they’ve said very little about it since.

Being a reboot doesn’t mean much when you’re talking about a driving sim but rumours suggest the game was originally envisioned as a live service title, full of microtransactions, but was then repurposed to take them all out – which is one reason why it’s taking so long.

Microsoft is unlikely to ever admit to that, even if it is true, but the Twitter account for the rather vaguely described Game Development at Microsoft has replied to a tweet from Turn10 studio boss Alan Hartman, aka the guy in charge of the Forza franchise.

The photo is of his personal Ford GT (worth a cool $1.7 million) which he keeps in the studio’s lobby when he’s not using it.

The tweet from him simply says ‘Come on sunshine!! #FordGT #Forza’ which on the face of it doesn’t seem much of a hint at anything, other than he wants to drive his car with the top down.
