As if Elden Ring isn’t already expansive enough, FromSoftware has now added more NPC quests to the game.
With its latest update, players will be presented with additional quests from NPCs such as Diallos, Nepheli Loux, Kenneth Haight, and Gatekeeper Gostoc. There’s also a new NPC called Jar Bairn, and there’ll be more summonable NPCs in “multiple situations.” Coupled with these additions is an improvement on tracking these characters’ locations, enabling markers on your map which also show their names.
Unfortunately, to make the game a little more balanced so speedrunners don’t just blast through its entirety in under 30 minutes, FromSoftware also dialed down a few abilities, including the highly-useful Mimic Tear, which now has reduced effectiveness. The Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War has also been nerfed, lowering its damage output and increasing its cast time. Luckily, the effects have also been slightly mitigated by other skills which now carry lower Focus Point costs, meaning you’ll be able to use them more frequently in your battles.
