Jonathan Anderson‘s JW Anderson completely shut down The Roundhouse venue in Northwest London, occupied by Christopher Kane seasons prior. The Irish designer welcomed guests young and old, including a special appearance from Charlie XCX. JW Anderson’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection continued to expand on his recent fascination with cemented materials, seeing him create wearable three-dimensional sculptures taken from Barbie’s casual wardrobe.
Anderson’s seasonal inspirations started with an intricate show invite, gifting attendees a tinted block of clay to play with. The hydrated material was later transported to the runway, molded into cropped tees and folded denim shorts. Hooded motorcycle jackets donned thick-cut drawstrings for a protective experience, while frocks of feathers blew against the indoor wind on padded outerwear. Glistening beads were woven with elegance, creating pocketed dresses frozen in time. Ultra-slouchy bomber jackets moved toward the bottom half, forming bulging trousers with humorous appeal.
Elsewhere, plastic bags were used across a slew of womenswear looks, taking note of Anderson’s Spring/Summer 2023 fish dress. These were stained in primary hues and knotted at the shoulders to create a swollen effect. Trousers crinkled in movement and swung low while circular figures pulled against color-blocked dresses that erupted at the waist, completing the collection with glittered lattice skirts and twisted dresses destined for summertime.
