Kate Middleton Could Have a Holiday Cooking Show in the Works

In news so pure it would spark joy in even the darkest heart, Kate Middleton and Mary Berry are reportedly teaming up for a holiday TV special. According to several U.K. outlets, the Duchess of Cambridge and the British culinary icon will appear together on a BBC1 seasonal show that combines two things both women are passionate about: cooking and charity. Last week, after Kate was spotted meeting with BBC director-general Tony Hall, rumors began circulating that she was working on some sort of TV project. And per the Mirror, that is true — to an extent.

It doesn’t appear Kate will be getting her own series but, rather, she’ll be the “guest of honor” on Berry’s big BBC1 Christmas show. Berry has a longstanding relationship with BBC, as she was a judge on the beloved culinary competition The Great British Bake-Off (before it switched networks). The program has reportedly already started filming and is tentatively titled The Mary Berry Royal Christmas Show. It is speculated that the duo will create a feast for charity volunteers working over the holiday, with Berry handling the food while Kate helps out. It may even take place at a royal venue.

“What better way to spread some Christmas cheer than to team up cookery royalty Mary Berry with real royalty in the form of Kate?” a source told the Mirror, adding, “Between them, they will bring seasonal goodwill to their guests and to the millions of viewers watching. Expect a properly uplifting Christmas treat.”

Naturally, the show is expected to air next month.

Per the Sun, Kate and Berry became fast friends in 2013 when they bonded at an event for Child Bereavement UK — both of the women are patrons for the organization. In September, they were photographed laughing and smiling together at the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Garden in Surrey designed by Kate. Berry is an RHS Ambassador.

So, if this holiday cooking special does come to fruition, it will give the women a chance to spend more time together for a good cause. And it goes without saying it will be like a Christmas gift for the rest of us.
