London-based label Labrum has announced a new collaboration with Converse, working with the brand to prepare a friends-and-family exclusive release. The design features a number of Sierra Leonean influences, inspired by creative director Foday Dumbuya‘s heritage and the country in which he was born.
The collaborative Pro Leather features a solid white base, which acts as a platform to the eye-catching pattern running across the upper. The zig zag print is a nod to the 16 tribes of Sierra Leone, while the color palette used — green, white and blue — is taken from the West African country’s flag.
Launching the collaboration, Labrum stated that the collaboration is “a statement of unity,” and a call to “bring
everyone together as one nation. It doesn’t matter if you’re from Freetown or from other provinces, all of us are represented as one unit.”
Take a look at the collaboration in the gallery above. While the release is a friends-and-family exclusive, two pairs are available via a raffle through the Labrum Instagram.
