Montblanc Releases Limited Edition Fountain Pens Honoring 'Sherlock Holmes' Author Conan Doyle

Following Spike Lee’s Meisterstück pen, Montblanc introduces a Writers Edition collection paying tribute to the Scottish explorer, doctor, and legendary literary figure, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930), who’s responsible for 200 novels, short stories, and poems, including The Lost World and Sherlock Holmes.

The Montblanc Writers Edition Sir Arthur Conan Doyle collection features four distinct pens and is inspired by the writer’s extraordinary life as well as his beloved Sherlock Holmes tales. In the creation of these special writing instruments, a heavy emphasis was placed on detail, leaving subtle design clues which continue to tell Doyle’s stories that captivate readers to this day. Each pen in the collection will include a magnifying glass-shaped clip paying homage to Sherlock Holmes, a custom illustration of Doyle engraved on the nib, and identifying elements representing the respective theme of each pen.

The signature Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Writers Edition is fitted in blue ruthenium decorated with a pattern based on Sherlock Holmes’ tartan and old street maps of London. The Limited Edition 1902 fountain pen is adorned in dark brown lacquer and resembles Sherlock Holmes’ infamous pipe. The Limited Edition 97, drawing inspiration from Doyle’s The Hound of Baskervilles novel, features a mosaic streetmap barrel resembling stained-glass windows. Finally, a Limited Edition 8 is inspired by the author’s post as a ship surgeon whilst whaling in the Arctic Circle at just 20 years old.

A matching set of accessories including a velvet stationery notebook, inkholder, and single leather pen pouch are also available. The instruments can now be purchased at Montblanc boutiques worldwide. Head over to Montblanc’s website to find a store near you.
