Back in September, when NIGO was announced as the next creative director for Kenzo, discussion was rife about what to expect. Would NIGO draw from the bohemian style of the brand’s founder, the late Kenzo Takada? Would he lean into the poppier aesthetic of Humberto Leon and Carol Lim’s eight-year tenure at the brand? Or would he pivot to something entirely new?
The answers are set to be revealed this Sunday January 23, at 11am CET, when NIGO’s first presentation for the brand will take place during Paris Fashion Week. HYPEBEAST will be live-streaming the show on its Instagram channel.
So far, the brand has wiped its entire Instagram feed, replacing it only with a cryptic teaser trailer showing flowers blooming through a Parisian ceiling. Alongside that, a short video message from Pharrell Williams shows the musician seemingly freestyling an improvised rhyme.
“You’re the general,” Williams says. “This is the very beginning, man.”
