Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. took to Twitter on Monday to announce that he will receive his full salary in Bitcoin.

“It’s a NEW ERA & to kick that off I’m hyped to announce that I’m taking my new salary in bitcoin thanks to @CashApp,” Beckham wrote. “To all my fans out there, no matter where u r: Thank you! I’m giving back a total of $1M in BTC [right now] too. Drop your $cashtag w #OBJBTC & follow @CashApp NOW.”

Earlier this month, Beckham Jr. signed a one-year contract with the Rams, who are currently 7-3 and ranked second in the NFC West, following his tenure with the Cleveland Browns. His contract comes with a base salary of $750,000 USD and a $500,000 signing bonus, along with an additional $3 million USD available in team-based incentives, according to Rams Wire.

To date, Beckham has played one game with the Rams, during which he caught two passes for 18 yards against the 49ers.

The NFL star is only the latest player to take his salary in cryptocurrency — in November, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced that he had joined forces with Cash App to convert a portion of his contract into Bitcoin.

Elsewhere, Scottie Pippen has denied calling LeBron James the GOAT of basketball.
