In the 2016-2017 NBA season during his tenure with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook was a nightmare for his opponents as he shattered the record for most triple doubles in a regular season with 42. And to honor this momentous achievement, his Jordan Brand family pieced together a special Air Jordan 3 “Mr. Triple Double” player exclusive. Detailed photos of the PE have landed in our lap, so let’s dive into all of its striking features.
Standing out across the upper right away are the Thunder-inspired accents. Pops of bright blue show face on the lace loops and rear midsole molds, while flashes of OKC-friendly orange touch down on the interior liners, eyelets and across the kicks’ cement patterns in distorted fashion. Westbrook’s signature “RW” insignia is printed on the tongues while his motto “Why Not” is stamped with a blurry font in the center of the midsole piece. And to further reference his triple double motif, a collection of the point guard’s stats from that electrifying season come printed in tonal fashion on the mudguards.
Sift through close-up shots of the shoes in the gallery above and note that these will not be seeing a public release.
Elsewhere in sneakers, official images of the Air Jordan 13 “Black Flint” have emerged.
