Six months after launch Gotham Knights is getting new DLC and boss fights

It was such a flop you could be forgiven for forgetting Gotham Knights even existed but apparently Warner Bros. and its developer haven’t.

Warner Bros. has not been having much luck with its DC Comics games lately, and by lately we mean at any point in the last eight years. That’s how long it’s been since Batman: Arkham Knight, with the only games since then being fighter Injustice 2 in 2017 and last year’s disastrous Gotham Knights.

A Batman game where you don’t get to play as Batman, it instead cast you as one of four sidekicks, including Batgirl and Robin, and while it wasn’t nearly as bad as some made out it did become something of an internet punching bag, especially once it became clear it was a commercial flop.

With Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League having been delayed into next year there’s nothing else that’s been announced to take its place but, surprisingly, a major slice of free DLC seems to be on the way for Gotham Knights.

Warner teased it at first, with an image of Harley Quinn, Mr Freeze, and Clayface sat around a table, but fan channel Batman Arkham Videos appears to have got hold of a list of new achievements that reveals the DLC will be surprisingly substantial.

It will apparently feature redesigned boss fights and new ‘supercharged’ criminals, in what sounds like an attempt to attract new players rather than just placate existing ones.

Gotham Knights is not a live service game, so new DLC was never necessarily expected. Add in the fact that the game has already been a major flop, and can be picked up extremely cheaply nowadays, and it’s all a bit puzzling.

Perhaps there’ll be some kind of hint in the update about a new game but either way, if you can pick it up cheap we’d advising doing so, as while it’s no classic it was always better than its reputation suggested and now it sounds like it’s going to be even better.
