Six Virgil Abloh x Russell Winfield Ride Snowboards Were Auctioned to Raise Funds for Black-Led Youth Organizations

Outdoor gear retail shop, evo, has just announced that its six Virgil Abloh x Russell Winfield Ride snowboards were able to raise over $12,000 USD.

This snowboard release was a special project between the late Abloh, Ride Snowboards, and Winfield. Regarded as the first professional Black snowboarder, Russell “The Godfather” Winfield was already sponsored in his teens and has been affiliated with Ride as early as 1995.

In keeping with Abloh’s vision for giving back to his community, the funds raised from the collaborative board — the fan-favorite Algorythm model — auction will go towards Black-led youth-serving organizations, Hoods to Woods, The Service Board, and SHRED Foundation. The total amount raised was matched by evo to further support the groups. This board featured Abloh’s artwork of the Statue of Liberty with Winfield’s name in the flames of the torch.
