Get up close and personal with some of the world’s biggest names with these incredible celebrity documentaries.

Although we may like to think we know everything about our favourite celebrities thanks to social media, that’s just not the case.

While Instagram and Twitter may provide us with a chance to connect with the actors and musicians we love, they don’t paint the whole picture of what life is really like in the limelight.

On the flip side, however, celebrity documentaries give us a chance to get up close and personal with the people behind our most-loved films, music and cultural moments.

  • Amy Winehouse: 10 Years On

Amy Winehouse: 10 Years On will feature never-before-seen footage of the star.

There have been numerous documentaries made about the iconic Amy Winehouse, but this latest film from the BBC is shaping up to be very different than those that have come before.

On top of the fact that the documentary is being released to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the singer’s tragic death, it will also feature in-depth interviews with Amy’s mum Janis Winehouse, who lives with Multiple Sclerosis and wants to document her memories of Amy before her condition threatens them. The film will also include never-before-seen footage from the family’s archives.

“I don’t feel the world knew the true Amy, the one that I brought up,” Janis said of the documentary’s announcement. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to offer an understanding of her roots and a deeper insight into the real Amy.”

A specific release date for the film has yet to be announced, but we’re looking forward to hearing more about what’s set to be a deeply emotional and powerful film.
