Once the Duchess of Sussex became, well, the Duchess, many traces of her pre-royal life all but disappeared. Which is why it’s so interesting when the rare glimpse of her B.H. (before Harry, natch) life comes out — like the previously unseen photos of Meghan Markle just released by her former Suits co-star Patrick J. Adams. The actor, who played Markle’s love interest Mike Ross onscreen, is clearly feeling sentimental about the show ending after nine seasons. And now, thanks to these intimate set photos, we are too.
It has been two years since Markle left the legal TV drama as her relationship with Prince Harry heated up. In those years, fans have been inundated with photos of Markle in her new capacity as a royal. But it’s not often that candid moments of Markle prior to becoming part of the royal family are to be found — surely a conscious choice on the part of the royal family’s PR arm. So, it feels a bit like lifting the veil and revealing the woman behind the curtain to see photos of Meghan so unguarded and relaxed.
We have Adams to thank for this telling new glimpse. Ahead of the series’ finale episode on Wednesday, he felt compelled to post throwback photos from the show’s “early days” — and, boy, did he deliver.

In one photo, Meghan stands in front of a trailer with “Rachel” (her character’s name) on the door. Her hair is tousled, and she’s dressed down in a comfy tank top and aviators. In another series, Meghan can be seen in her character’s signature smart style all over the set: standing just behind a soundstage, lounging on a sofa — and relaxing in a robe and stilettos.

Another series shows her lying upside-down on the floor next to actress Sarah Rafferty, who plays personal assistant Donna Paulsen on the show.

The final series of photos shared by Adams sees Meghan posing for a group selfie with her castmates, as well as peeking out from beneath a clear umbrella.

With the end of Suits imminent — and with Meghan currently on her first royal tour as a family of three — it feels like the official end of an era. During her first joint interview with Harry in 2017, Meghan opened up about her decision to leave the show. “I see it as a new change, a new chapter,” she said. “I’ve been working on my show (for) seven years, we were so fortunate to have that longevity, and I feel like I checked that box and am very proud of the work I’ve done there.”
