After traveling to the Italian coastline for Luca, Disney Animation Studios is headed to South America as it has just unveiled the first trailer for its forthcoming film Encanto. The forthcoming musical is repleted with magic and animals and marks Disney’s 60th animated feature (feel old yet?).
The movie takes place in the country of Colombia and it takes us along the journey of several Madrigal family members that possess various magical powers from super-strength to the ability to control plants and animals to shape-shifting. Mirabel Madrigal, the star of the movie who is played by Stephanie Beatriz, is the black sheep in this film as she is the only one who doesn’t have any special gifts. But despite not possessing any superhuman characteristics, she ends up being the saving grace for her family when the magic of their colorful town of Encanto becomes endangered.
The motion picture is directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush and features original music written by Lin-Manuel Miranda — the mastermind behind the highly acclaimed musical Hamilton and In the Heights.
Peep the trailer for Encanto here above, and note that it will be released in theaters on November 24, 2021.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Netflix just dropped a new trailer for ‘Top Secret UFO Projects: Declassified’.
