Coronation Streets Kimberly Hart-Simpson brings back retro hair mascara trend

We may not always want to re-wear the looks but we do love ourselves a bit of beauty nostalgia. This week Coronation Street's Kimberly Hart-Simpson has brought back a seriously retro 90s hair trend that we bet will make you go, “Oh I remember that!”

This week the 34 year old shared a selfie wearing – wait for it – brightly-coloured hair mascara, captioning the snap: “Let’s agree to bring hair mascara back. #90s”.

The actress, who plays Nicky Wheatley in the iconic soap opera, also shared a vintage ad for L’Oréal’s hair mascara, which no doubt was a real throwback for people who remember the beauty buy being advertised the first time around.

These days, most hair mascaras serve the purpose of concealing roots rather than adding a pop of colour. But it seems that Kimberly’s fans are also pretty keen for the multi-tonal hair look to make a comeback, as they rushed to compliment her on the 90s-inspired beauty look.

“I love this vibe, yesss,” one wrote alongside a string of emojis, as another added, “I loved my hair mascara back in the day.”

Meanwhile a third fan was more focused on Kimberly’s lip products in the selfie. “Gorgeous, what lipstick/lip liner are you wearing please?”

No doubt to their delight the star replied, “Hey babe so it’s Doll Beauty Liner then Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick” – easily one of the most popular lip shades around that you can snap up for £25 here.

It’s clearly a time of experimentation for Kimberly when it comes to her hair, as she revealed that she’d been dabbling with wigs with her platinum blonde long bob, aka “lob”, with the caption “Getting wig-gy with it.”

"I love this lewkkkk!!!" One follower enthused, while another commented, "Looking absolutely BEAUT!" with the kiss print emoji.

A third even compared the star to former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson – and we have to admit, we do kind of see the resemblance with one of Jesy’s signature hairstyles.

Who knows, maybe we’ll see a spike of hair mascara sales this month? (Look, we did say maybe.)
