Dad shares secrets to feeding his family-of-eight for less than a fiver per meal

A hard-working dad says it is easily possible to feed a family of eight for around £4.50 after taking social media by storm.

Nathan Lyons does the cooking for his wife and six children at their home in Western Sydney, Australia.

The 35-year-old says he feeds all eight of them for less than $8 – and explained how you can too.

He says it's easy to make great meals at that cost, £4.40 once converted, and more people should try to save cash at dinner time.

"I've always been a budget shopper as my mum was a single mum of four in housing commission and money was tight growing up," the proud dad told FEMAIL.

"We always bought home brand items and learned to appreciate the good stuff when we got it."

Nathan continued: "I think the best way to keep meals cheap is to bargain shop and kind of have an idea of what you want to achieve when you cook.

"Like looking for the markdowns and the yellow sticker specials!"

He even includes his kangaroo curry in the cheap meal options – and gives his 60,000 followers guides to how to cook the grub as well.

Now he feels it's his duty to keep providing money-saving content as well as some tasty cooking tips.

He added: "'It's all about shopping smarter.

"A 750 gram packet of pasta only costs $2 and a jar of sauce is $3. That can feed a family with some veggies."

He started his TikTok account in September and says he doesn't know how he has gained such huge views.

"There's so much negative stuff on social media and in the world in general," Nathan added.

"I I just want to bring joy to people and make them smile."
