Dear Coleen, over the past couple of months, my relationship with my girlfriend seemed a bit off, but I was convinced we’d be able to work it out.
However, she dropped a bombshell and confessed that during our year-long time together she’d had doubts about us for more than seven months of it, and felt she needed a break to clear her head.
I was nervous, but agreed, hoping it would help to give her some space. But only a week later, she texted me to say she couldn’t handle a relationship and ended it.
I’m still in shock now and finding it very hard to get over her. I’m 21 and she’s 20, and this was the first serious relationship for both of us.
Everyone has told me that I’ll be fine and that I can do better, but I still find myself hoping we can reconcile in some way, shape or form.
I know I’m deluding myself into thinking we can get back together, yet I still can’t get her out of my mind.
We haven’t been in touch since we broke up and it’s honestly killing me. How can I get over this?
