  • Says they managed to combine elegance with ‘spontaneous and joyous fun’

A body language expert has suggested that Meghan and Harry may have practised their ‘swirling’ dance moves ahead of their big day.

Footage and photographs of the couple’s routine to Land of a Thousand Dances by Wilson Pickett have been released in their new Neflix trailer, teasing the next installment of their series, which is released on December 15th.

Body language expert Judi James said: ‘It doesn’t look like a dance was “off the cuff”.

‘She’s a very elegant bride in low cut dress and so she would not have wanted to be causally thrown around the dance floor. It could have been an absolute disaster if not practised.’

Meghan and Harry showed off their dance moves to Land of a Thousand Dances, by Wilson Pickett in new photos released in their latest trailer for their Netflix series Harry and Meghan

The fact Harry was cradling Meghan during parts of the dance suggested he was putting on an ‘alpha display’ with his new bride, James suggests

Complicated! The couple had some slick moves during the dance and were clearly focused on having fun and a good time – and may have practised beforehand

Judi, who has previously discussed how frustrated Harry looked in the first three episodes of their Netflix series, said that there were a lot of complicated moves the couple showed off – and that Harry gave his all.

She said: ‘He is putting himself in there 200 per cent – even when they pull apart. He is almost dad dancing, with his bum out.

‘I don’t think Shirley Ballas would allow it in Strictly Come Dancing but he’s obviously having a lot of fun. He’s got his mouth open singing and laughing’.

She said the dance was also ‘crazy fast’ – and they may have had to have rehearse it to enable them to enjoy it on the day.

She said: ‘That song is crazy fast. It’s a really difficult dance to dance to as it is so quick.

Judi James said rehearsed moves would have allowed for the couple to have spontaneous fun during the dance

‘The fact they can do steps like that implies that had a bit of practise. It’s clever because it allowed them to really enjoy it.’

She added: ‘There are lots of moves, such as the arms around the backs of their heads, that could have been a clumsy disaster if not worked on beforehand.

‘Meghan would have to be very confident that their dance wouldn’t cause problems in that dress. Harry would have been confident too – not to mess up dress and make-up.

‘Anything could have have happened, to her being dropped on the ground to her dress falling off.

‘So the fact they avoided that and yet managed to dance so extravagantly would suggest that they rehearsed the dance beforehand.’

Remarking on Harry’s dancing, she said he was ‘totally uninhibited.’And she said Meghan was ‘joining in really well’ with the couple completely synchronised.

She said: ‘Meghan has created elegance with spontaneous fun. She’s nailed it and is throwing herself in. They are both totally in tune and synchronised.’

She added that the joyous wedding dance was in sharp contrast to how the couple came across in the documentary.

She said: ‘I suppose it’s remarkable for a royal wedding how totally uninhibited Harry’s body language is.

‘It’s as though he’s impressing with an alpha display and dancing as though nobody’s watching.

‘It’s also quite a sensual looking ritual with Meghan managing to look elegant and fun at the same time.

‘They both look utterly confident with this extrovert-looking performance with no sign that either of them are doing anything but going for it.

‘With the sadness and misery described in their documentary it’s good to see there were times when they clearly felt utterly joyous and comfortable in a royal family event.’

The couple discussed the dance and shared pictures in their new Neflix trailer.

In the footage, the couple reminisced about their wedding day in May 2018, with Meghan forgetting the name of the song they first danced to.

They then discussed the track and its lyrics in the 38-second clip.

Meghan said: ‘I just really wanted the music to be fun.’

Then she asked Harry: ‘Even our first dance. Song of a thousand dances? I always get it wrong,’ before singing a few of the lyrics such as ‘Mashed potato, do the alligator’.

Afterwards, the trailer plays the first line of the tune – Land of a Thousand Dances, by Wilson Pickett – as it skips through a plethora of photographs from the dance, including one the Duchess of Sussex dancing with A-lister Elton John and another actor from Suits, Abigail Spencer.

‘That was out first dance,’ said Meghan. ‘It was so fun. Just spinning like a whirlwind was so great.’

The clip was released amid the fallout over the first three episodes, which were released at 8am on Thursday morning.

The couple have since received criticism over the series for attacking British institutions as they discussed their experiences – including racism.

On January 8 2020, the Sussexes revealed that they intended to ‘step back as ”senior” members of the royal family and work to become financially independent’.

Meanwhile, on Thursday fans of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, praised the couple for being so clearly in love after witnessing the first three episodes of their much-anticipated Netflix show.

They went on social media to gush over the behind-the-scenes footage of the couple’s romance and never seen before photographs.

The documentary series, which will see three more episodes drop next Thursday, reveals the real love story of how the pair met and fell in love.

This is the first time the couple have publicly acknowledged which song they chose for their first dance.

Initial reports suggested it was Whitney Houston’s hit I Wanna Dance With Somebody, after Meghan referred to it as her ‘happy song’ in a 2016 magazine interview.

But the Finding Freedom biography later contradicted earlier reports by claiming the first dance took place to Wilson Pickett’s 1968 track ‘I’m in Love’.

It comes amid a deepening row over the release of the couple’s Netflix series, with sources saying the Prince of Wales is unlikely ever to make up with his estranged brother following his Netflix betrayal.

William is said to be angry about the disrespect he feels Harry showed to their grandmother when she was alive during the Megxit saga.
