Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson has made a living out of having a body most women can only dream of – but she’s not shy about sharing just how hard she works for it.
At 55 – and after modelling for 37 years – the owner of supplement brand WelleCo told Sporteluxe she has turned away from aerobic exercise to focus on yoga and predominantly follows a plant-based diet.
This coupled with a keen awareness of nutrition has helped the mother-of-two stay on top of her burgeoning business and achieve success away from the camera.
Elle recently revealed the secrets behind her famous body – and her top three recipes to help replicate her sculpted physique.

What are Elle’s three favourite recipes?
When Elle is home she loves indulging in raw foods, using a dehydrator ‘most days’ to put together a meal.
For breakfast she’ll make raw coconut yogurt with coconut flesh and lemon soaked in chia seeds or homemade almond milk.
Elle Macpherson’s chocolate mousse:
Combine half an avocado with fresh mineral water, two spoonfuls of chocolate-flavoured nourishing protein powder and one spoonful of Super Elixir powder in a Nutribullet.
Enjoy cold for breakfast.
For toppings the brunette beauty opts for cardamom, ginger and cinnamon, all of which are known for reducing inflammation in the body.
‘I’m loving vegan bread made in my dehydrator topped with some avocado, sprouts, arugula and tomatoes from my garden. Or topped with fennel and almond butter,’ she told the publication.
She was also inspired by chef Adam Kenworthy to try vegetable pesto pasta with zucchini, pine nuts and walnut basil pesto.

What is her favourite form of exercise?
Moving her body every day is a big part of Elle’s daily self care routine, and another of the secrets behind her famous body.
She tries to exercise early in the morning to kick start her day, usually choosing a walk, swim, bike ride, yoga session or moment for meditation.
During her early modelling days she burnt out her body by constantly doing aerobic gym workouts, which at the time was understandable.
But an intense workout no longer provides her with the same health benefits.

What are her favourite beauty products?
Elle is a huge proponent for DefenAge skincare, which she was introduced to in New York at a hotel spa.
Her favourite product is the 1-Step Multi Cleanse ($52); an exfoliater that uses fruit enzymes rather than chemicals to remove dry skin and blemishes.
As for makeup, she uses Oxygenetix range of foundations because they are ‘great for sensitive skin’ and act as a skin treatment while covering imperfections.
Concealer has always been Gucci Westman Atelier and for a tinted moisturiser Elle purchases Beauty Counter products.
On top of her regular skin routine she ‘loves’ an infrared sauna, dry brushing and ‘manual lymph body work’ from a masseuse.
