A radio presenter famous for being a “rich kid of Instagram” has jumped to the defence of a woman with “Britain’s biggest eyebrows” who was trolled online.
Jodie Weston appeared on the Channel 5 show Rich Kids Go Skint but has since made a name for herself as a glamorous DJ.
And she has now told keyboard warriors to back off Sammie-Jo Hailford – who went viral last week after an exclusive interview with Daily Star where she revealed trolls threaten her with social services because of her eyebrows.
Jodie told the told Daily Star: “'I think it’s really unfair that people troll.
"Although Sammie-Jo’s eyebrows may not be to everyone’s taste, everyone is entitled to their own style and unless comments are constructive I don’t think there is any need for them.
“I get trolled all the time and often for polar opposite things so it gets tiring, even when I’ve shown the world I have a talent people still try to put me in a box and label me as a dumb blonde or make comments about my hair and makeup when there is no need for them.
“Sometimes it really is a case of if you’ve got nothing nice to say, you shouldn’t say anything at all.”
Sammie-Jo had opened up about how strangers threaten to have her kids taken away because of her extreme eyebrows.
And the social media personality said she is constantly branded an "unfit mum" by strangers.
But speaking after Jodie defended her, Sammie-Jo revealed that she has started a new campaign.
She is calling it “BROWS” and it stands for “Beauty redefined or we suffer”.
Explaining the idea behind it, the mum-of-two, from Grimsby, said: “It's a movement to get beauty standards of today changed because we want to help create a new idea of beauty.
“This includes seeing women and men of all types in the media like people with wonky teeth like mine doing adverts and people with moles on their face or with acne.
“Anything really that isn't deemed beautiful in society. Hopefully we can make a difference and change things.”
The 27-year-old – who goes by the name Sammie-Jo – last week explained why she uses liquid liner to make her eyebrows huge.
She said: “I feel like people are socially conditioned to only be beautiful if they are part of these standards and I just don’t agree with it and I don’t like it.
“I just like to make a statement and the brows do that for me. They started off normal size and they just got bigger over time and I just like to look different.”
And speaking about her abilities as a mother, she added: "They can call social services because I have nothing to hide. My eyebrows don’t determine whether I’m a good mother or not.”
She has quickly become a social media star and has acquired 114,000 TikTok followers – despite only joining recently.
And Sammie-Jo is now using the platform to fundraise for the Women’s Aid charity ahead of International Women’s Day.
The mum also recently showed how unrecognisable she is without her huge eyebrows drawn on – and you can see the dramatic transformation here.
