Sam Heughan has been on our screens for years and is probably most famous for portraying the character of Jamie Fraser in the historical drama series Outlander since 2014.
However, the 43 year old actor has decided to switch things up a bit work wise recently, and is set to appear in the new thriller series, The Couple Next Door, which airs tonight at 9pm on Channel 4. The show will focus on a young couple who "move to upmarket suburbia to start a family but soon find themselves tangled up in a complex web of desire and betrayal with their new neighbours."
But as we all settle down to watch Sam in his new venture, what do we know about the actor off screen? From his lavish Scottish farmhouse to his private love life, here's everything you need to know about Sam Heughan…
Sam lives in a £1m property in Glasgow
Due to Sam's acting success, in which he has been nominated for and won a series of prestigious accolades, it's no surprise his financial situation is pretty comfortable. Which means over the years, he's been able to splash the cash on some pretty luxe properties.
According to reports, Sam currently resides in a remodelled 18th-century farmhouse north of Glasgow, which he purchased for £1 million back in 2021.
Just like Sam's work in Outlander, the repurposed building has an interesting history too. It was originally built in 1775 as a coaching inn with stables around the beginning of the American Revolutionary War, the same conflict Sam's character Jamie and his on screen wife Claire Fraser were caught up in during season seven.
History aside, the sprawling property has been renovated to meet the standards of the 21st century, and Sam's tastes. From 900 square feet of living space to a home gym, it's clear that Sam is living in his own lap of luxury.
Apparently, his property portfolio doesn't end there, though, as Sam also reportedly has three more residencies in Glasgow, which collectively are worth over £1 million.
Who has Sam been linked to?
Due to his busy schedule and successful acting career, it seems that romance and dating have had to take a backseat over the last few years. In an interview with People magazine back in May, Sam admitted that he's "still looking" for 'the one."
He confessed: "I've done all of the gift-giving and turning up when least expected, but, so far, I'm still looking."
Sam also told the Inquirer in 2020: "Maybe I will find someone eventually. I am sure at some point, I will get knocked off my feet, then I'm screwed."
While Sam's forever partner is still out there somewhere, he has been linked to model Monika Clarke and actors MacKenzie Mauzy, Amy Shiels and Cody Kennedy in the past.
Sam is involved with philanthropy work
Away from acting, Sam appears to be quite the philanthropist. In 2015 he started his own organisation, My Peak Challenge, which is a "training, nutrition, and support programme" that not only raises money for charity but is also "a global movement dedicated to educating and inspiring its members to live healthier, happier, and more balanced lives."
Since its launch, the programme has partnered with a variety of charities, brands and research centres to raise money for cancer research.
Sam is also the president of Scotland Bloodwise.
