As we gear up for the big finale, Love Island fans have been reflecting on our season seven contestants and their journeys in the villa – and not just their romantic antics, but their beauty transformations too.

And while we know that the boys love a bit of a grooming ritual just as much as the girls, it’s contestant Toby Aromolaran and his skincare habits that caught the attention of viewers after Friday night’s episode.

Twitter user Jen Morris shared the hilarious side-by-side images showing Toby in his early villa days using exfoliating gloves on his face, and his evolution to using chemical exfoliant pads instead.

“I feel this alone displays Toby’s growth throughout the season #loveisland” she wrote alongside the snaps of the finalist.

Skincare fans will know that frequent physical abrasion isn’t good for the skin barrier, and a chemical solution is the way to go to slough off dead skin cells – so this is quite the graduation for our Tobes.

As well as racking up more than 40,000 likes on the app, the viral tweet was also met with some hilarious reactions from fans.

Referring to the fact that Toby’s skin seemed unscathed by the gloves, one replied, "He was scraping his skin with the exfoliating gloves and his skin was still A1. Men."

Another quote tweeted the post with the reply, “Are those EXFOLIATING GLOVES on his FACE!!?!!!? Pure madness glad he has evolved his skin care to something more safe for his skin because wtf.” We quite agree.

Influencer Jen then went on to recommend a gentle salicylic acid-based exfoliant that can be used instead of those dreaded scrubbing gloves.

"Skip the skin damage and get Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant in your life," she wrote, adding: "It’s a super gentle rice based exfoliant that smooths and soothes the skin." If you want to take her up on the recommendation you can snap it up for£51 here.

In another nod to our Love Islander’s skincare obsession, and probably the funniest couple in the villa, another fan tweeted, “I feel like Toby has a 40 minute skincare routine and Chloe sleeps in her makeup #loveisland.”

Joking aside, we certainly hope that the latter is not true!
