Meghan Markle’s bestie Misha Nonoo is expecting a baby girl, her second, the designer announced Tuesday.
“My journey into motherhood has been one of the most rewarding and beautiful experiences of my life,” Nonoo wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her cradling her baby bump. “I’m extremely grateful and excited to share that we’re adding a sweet baby girl to our family, and Leo will soon be a big brother!”
The announcement was, natch, made in the same breathless sentence announcing a new line of maternity styles from Nonoo’s line, “inspired by the wardrobe heroes I missed wearing the most during my pregnancy.”
Nonoo and husband Michael Hess welcomed their son Leo in March 2020 after marrying in September 2019.
Markle isn’t the only royal in the Bahrain-born Nonoo’s Rolodex: Princess Eugenie turned up to celebrate the launch of the designer’s Soho popup in September 2019.
It has long been suggested that Nonoo was the person who introduced Markle to Prince Harry. Page Six noted when reporting on the divorce of Nonoo and Paddle8 co-founder Alexander Gilkes in 2016 that Kate and Pippa Middleton’s brother James, as well as Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, had attended their 2012 wedding. However, in 2018, E! claimed it had confirmed that Violet von Westenholz, whose baron father is a friend of Prince Charles, was the one who actually made the match.
Regardless, Nonoo’s association with Markle vaulted her to a new level of visibility. A 2019 promotional appearance on NBC’s “Today” after Meghan’s baby shower introduced her as Harry and Meghan’s matchmaker, though Nonoo deferred on-air.
