Meghan Markle just perfectly nailed a power pony hairstyle

Before Meghan Markle was Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, she was Rachel Zane on Suits – and we have to admit we’ve missed watching her and her epic office-chic hair and style looks. Now, for her return to the UK with husband Prince Harry, it looks like Meghan is channelling her inner Rachel again for a “power pony” hair look.

Showing off the style last night at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester for her first speech in the UK since 2020, Meghan looked incredible in a striking red dress and with glowing makeup. Though we’d like to know ASAP everything she used on her skin to prep for the night, we’re in awe of her slick-back ponytail featuring waved ends.

Twitter is also delighted to see Meghan back and serving more style and beauty looks…

“Meghan's real hair that can grow & wash & condition is always on point. She looks the bomb!” says one, while a second tweets: “The dress, the earrings, the hair and THE shoes!! And that glowing face. Meghan looks gorgeous.”

A third adds: “Speech on point. Skin on point. Brows on point. Makeup on point. Hair on point. Outfit on point.”

Fancy stealing Meg’s style?Chris Appleton, the man behind Kim Kardashian and JLo’s hair, recently shared his tips on nailing a middle-part, wet look updo like the one Meghan wore.

“Apply pop & lock shellac,” he advises in the Reel, referring to Color Wow Pop & Lock High Gloss Finish, £19.50 here. Chris applies that liberally to the model’s hair before combing it through the roots and mid-lengths of her hair.

He then grabs a hair tie and tells viewers to “follow the eyeline and snatch tight” before he ties the hair into a ponytail, making sure any flyaways are combed down.

Chris says you can tailor this look by pulling out some front sections – very 90s – or, if you want to copy Meghan’s look, you could curl the ends of your hair to give them some movement.

Since Chris didn’t style this look for Meghan, we don’t exactly know the products she used to make her hair look so glossy and sleek, but we do know that she’s previously been a big fan of Wella Oil Reflections Luminous Smoothing Oil, £18.50 here, which would definitely help give a ponytail a bit of extra shine.

Meghan has also previously said in old interviews that she uses Oribe's Dry Texturizing Spray, £19.50 here, to give her ends a bit of oomph. If you haven’t tried this spray for yourself, it also doubles up as a luxurious hair perfume.

We’ll be shopping all of those on payday, then.
