Meghan Markle Rejected Kate Middleton's Attempts to Reach Out to Her Following Lilibet's Birth, Journalist Says

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on June 4, 2021. Lili weighed in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces, and was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. The Sussexes released a statement on their Archewell website about their new addition to the family which read: “She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

A few days later, Kate Middleton said that she hoped to reunite with Harry and Meghan to meet Lilibet. That hasn’t happened so far, but now a journalist is claiming that the Duchess of Cambridge had tried to reach out to the Duchess of Sussex on multiple occasions and was rejected.

The Duchess of Cambridge sent well wishes, said she’ couldn’t wait’ to meet the Sussexes’ daughter

Upon the announcement of Lilibet’s birth, Prince William and Kate sent along a congratulatory message via social media which read: “We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan, and Archie.”

Days later during an appearance with first lady Dr. Jill Biden at the Connor Downs Academy, Kate was asked about her wishes for her niece.

“I wish her all the very best. I can’t wait to meet her, because we haven’t yet met her,” the duchess replied. “So, hopefully, that will be soon.”

Kate tried to connect with Meghan numerous times following Lilibet’s birth

Journalist Kinsey Schofield has claimed that Kate tried to reach out to Meghan after Lilibet arrived saying that William’s wife made several attempts to connect by sending notes and gifts.

“Kate kind of really aggressively reached out to Meghan after the birth of [Lili] and was denied,” Scholfield said (per Express).

Scholfield added that she doesn’t believe Meghan not connecting with her sister-in-law was meant to be hurtful though. “Meghan’s motives were likely not malicious,” Scholfield told The List. “Lili was a rainbow baby and her birth was an emotional time for the Sussexes. Some might say the gesture was too little too late but I imagine that the Sussexes were overwhelmed and excited by baby No. 2.”

At this time, the members of the royal family still have yet to meet Lili in person.

Meghan spoke about Lili during a TV interview

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been very private when it comes to their children. During their visit to New York City for the 2021 Global Citizen Live festival in September, Meghan was asked about Lilibet and would only say: “She’s beautiful.”

The duchess did later provide an update on her youngest child during an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show in November.

“She is a good sleeper, but the teeth are coming in,” Meghan revealed. “So any mom will understand where you go they may be the best in the world, but the moment that is happening you have so much sympathy. So yes, I am up most of the night.”
