A mum has shared the simple way she meal preps fruit and vegetables to keep them fresh for longer: soaking them in a mixture of cold water and a splash of white vinegar.
‘With school starting back up, I thought I’d share my favourite way to prep fresh fruits and veggies to make life a little easier in the morning when packing lunches,’ she said on a Facebook group dedicated to meal prepping.
The mum revealed she had to get creative because of rising grocery bill prices – and that her method saves her time and money.

‘Prepping my fruits and veggies like this definitely make them last through the week,’ she said.
‘We eat it within the week so I only shop for fresh produce a week at a time.’
The mum begins by soaking her produce in a mixture of mostly cold water and a splash of white vinegar.
She then lets them soak for twenty minutes and gently stirs the water every few minutes.
Lastly, she drains and dries all of the produce with a kitchen towel.
‘The key is to make sure the fruit is completely dry,’ she said.
The mum then shared how she stored the fruit and vegetables to keep them from going off.

She added, ‘For the baby carrots and cut up cucumbers, I use mason jars filled with filtered water! This will keep them from getting all slimy or even drying out.’
