Mum slammed for ‘destroying’ daughter’s face by taking her for lip fillers

A mum has been fiercely criticised after she took her daughter to get lip fillers without talking to the girl's father first.

She says 'a lot of people are angry with me' but argues she did it to help her daughter who, she says has been complaining about her lips since she was 10 years old.

The mum describes her child's lips as 'a great shape, but they are thin' – a trait which she says she inherited from her dad – and says she has been 'bullied for it for ages'.

Her daughter has often been left in tears over it and has always been self-conscious about how they look as she has grown up.

The girl lives with her dad and step mother full time, but her mum, who travels for work, says the pair are very close and she tends to stay with her for weeks at a time.

Recently her daughter, who is now 17, confessed to her mum that she had been saving up money to get lip injections for two years and had a significant amount set aside.

The mum wrote on Reddit : "We had a heart-to-heart about it and I decided to go ahead and pay for her to get them from a good doctor. I signed the consent forms and we did it.

"She is very happy with them, she loves them. They have really balanced out her face.

"When it was time for me to leave for work again, I took her back to her father’s. He flipped it. He started yelling at both of us and claiming that we destroyed her face.

"I apologised to him for not clearing it with him, but it was because I knew that he would say no. This was something she has really wanted for a long time. He argues that she is a child and doesn’t know what she wants."

After news spread to the rest of the family, the was slammed for taking their daughter for 'plastic surgery' and the dad was urged to limit the time the two are allowed to spend together.

The mum argued that she would have 'gotten it herself anyway' and opened it up for advice as to whether she had been in the wrong.

Many berated her for doing it behind the back of the girl's dad, as one wrote: "You're the a**hole for not talking to the other parent, because avoiding difficult conversations is a deeply immature thing to do, especially when it involves your daughter."

Another said: "What happens when her fillers deflate? Is [her mum] going to keep paying for them? Or is she teaching her daughter to prioritise this large amount of money on something like this versus her education, or other things that could stabilize her independence as she becomes an adult?"

But some defended the mum, as one argued: "She would have got them done on her own anyway. You just ensured that she had a good doctor doing it."
