My baby FELL out of me headfirst as I gave birth and needed 11 stitches

A MUM was left horrified after her baby FELL out of her while she gave birth and hit the floor headfirst.

The little newborn got quite the shock after emerging into the world, needing 11 stitches to close a wound.

Mum Josian Marques Pereira said she was left waiting for 40 mins while in labour at the Sofia Feldman Maternity Hospital in Brazil.

When she was eventually ushered into a room to give birth, the mum claims her baby, Olivia, fell out onto the hospital floor.

Josian says she told the nurse she couldn't walk as she could feel the child emerging.

But she claims she was forced to get up and walk anyway, before the baby arrived onto the reception floor.

The youngster was rushed to a different hospital where she had surgery.

Olivia was discharged on May 11, five days after the dramatic birth, and is thought to be doing well.

Her mum said: "Our focus is on her, taking care of her and staying calm."

An investigation has been launched into the incident.

Urgent warning to women over 50 who snore over silent killer

Last week we told how a teenager had no idea she was pregnant until she gave birth in her bed, given she was still having periods and taking the Pill every day.

Niomi Thomas thought her stomach pains must be constipation but she was in fact in labour with her daughter, Talia Thomas.

Nine months on from her surprise delivery, Niomi is reassuring others who have experienced cryptic pregnancies that they're “not alone”.

Cryptic pregnancies, those that go unnoticed, can happen for a number of reasons, including a hidden baby bump, mental health issues, a false negative test result and lack of symptoms.

And, mums-to-be can now get life-saving tests that could save years of heartache.

Retinoblastoma, an eye cancer, is diagnosed in 40 to 50 children and babies every year in the UK, charities say.

The NHS claims the new test for pregnant women will likely identify around 50 cases of retinoblastoma each year in England, before the affected baby has been born.

If it is picked up early, the condition can often be successfully treated.
