You’ve had lots of late nights with your BFF, dishing about your latest dating adventures and unpacking your childhood memories (whether you knew each other way back then or not). I’m sure you each other’s emergency contacts. But how well do you really know each other?
WH has put together 50 questions to help you figure out how well you know them—and whether you need to have more one-on-one time with your bestie.
But if you’re already feeling that pre-test anxiety that used to haunt you in high school, take a breather. “The best and easiest way to connect with a longtime friend or a more recent friend is to simply text or call them and ask ‘how are you doing?’” Annette Nuñez, PhD, LMFT, says.So even if you don’t ace this quiz, there is time to do more listening and asking your BFF lots of questions.
Here’s how it works: The first 25 questions are simple yes or no’s to test whether or not you know certain things about your bestie. The second half is more specific questions about your BFF’s preferences. Once you’re done with the second 25, send them to your pal to check your answers. (Our grading is at the end.)
No matter how you perform on this quiz, it is a great way to reconnect with your friend and be reminded of how much you care for one another. After all, “A friend is a friend, whether it is your best friend, childhood friend, or a recent friend. The simple act of connecting with another human gives one a sense of belonging and purpose,” Nuñez says.

If you got 0 to 12 correct, maybe you’re work pals and haven’t chatted about your whole life history yet. Don’t worry though, there’s always time during post-work happy hour for all of that!
If you got 12 to 18 correct, you’ve been best friends for a couple of years (those college days solidified the ‘ship) and get along really well. Keep being a great friend!
If you got 18 to 25 correct, you are true BFFs, but you already knew that, didn’t you?! But just because you know each other really well, doesn’t mean you can ease up on your role as a friend. Continue to put the effort into the friendship and show them how much you care!
