She added: ‘I think a lot of it is very drying to the skin and it really takes a lot of nutrients out of the skin. Maybe that’s a conspiracy theory.’
Sister Monica added that the costs of modern skincare products had left her shocked and said she washes her skin with gentle soap just once a day.
She also explained that she’s never used tanning salons and hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol since her mid-twenties because even a small amount left her feeling like she’d ‘drunk a whole bottle’.
The nun told the hosts: ‘I do know that being a very frugal person, even before I became a sister, I was just absolutely horrified at the idea of paying $42 for a half ounce of some kind of serum. I though that was a little bit ridiculous.
‘I’ve never bought beauty products like that. I just use some kind of gentle hypoallergenic soap on my face once a day.’
A low-carb, no alcohol diet with little sugar and keeping out of the sun were the key to her skin, she told the daytime television programme
The nun said she plans to keep updating those who are interested in her life as an Anglican nun on TikTok without compromising the privacy of her sisters

She told the show that she now plans to keep updating those who are interested in her life as an Anglican nun on TikTok without compromising the privacy of her fellow sisters.
After a friend advised her to start a TikTok account, she set up @nunsenseforthepeople, and had just four followers when people began to notice her youthful-looking skin.
The answer was surprisingly simple, with the nun avoiding direct sunlight as it causes her migraines, and washing her skin with gentle soap
In one post, she explained she washes her face daily with Aveeno oatmeal body wash for babies, and shoots videos in low lighting to protect her skin. She also advised using a parasol when out in the sun.
Within days of posting about her skincare routine, she’d had millions of hits and she now has 66,000 followers and rising.
She shared with This Morning that her favourite part of the TikTok video had been reading the comments, saying she found it ‘hysterical’ that many women thought not having to deal with men was the secret of her young-looking skin.
