Luke Bryan will not be appearing on the first live “American Idol” show of Season 19 because he tested positive for COVID-19.
The country singer and judge on the hit ABC series announced the news via Twitter ahead of the show’s taping on Monday.
“I’m doing well and look forward to being back at it soon,” he reassured fans.
He also shared the same message on his Instagram Story.
Fans took to the comments to send their well-wishes and share their own experiences with the virus.
It’s unclear if Bryan’s wife Caroline Boyer also tested positive for coronavirus. The couple — who have been married since 2006 — share two sons Thomas, 13, and Tatum, 10.
Bryan, 44, has been a judge on the singing competition show since Season 16 (2018) when it was rebooted on ABC.
The show is currently on Season 19 with Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie all serving as judges.
The season premiered in February 2021 amid the coronavirus pandemic with a mixture of contestants auditioning virtually and in person for a spot in the competition.
Monday’s episode will reveal the Top 12 contestants.
Ryan Seacrest hosts the show. Earlier this year, around the time the new season of “American Idol” was starting, Seacrest announced he was leaving “E!’s Live From the Red Carpet” after 14 years.
“I’ll miss the whole crew that works so hard behind the scenes and of course my amazing partner Giuliana [Rancic],” he said. “Thanks to everyone for watching all these years.”
Ahead of the 2021 Golden Globes, he promoted the singing series on social media with a steamy shower Instagram.
