Their last single, Under Attack, was released 38 years ago but the pop legends still have some cutting edge tricks up their satin sleeves. The fab four have always insisted they will never get back on stage for a world tour but fans know one is coming up soon. They also know new songs, now confirmed to be at least five tracks, have also been recorded. And now the Swedish stars have been seen at London’s Ealing Studios working on an incredible surprise for fans.
The tour was announced back in 2016 but the technical complexities have taken years to perfect. The shows will be boosted by five new songs which include I Still Have Faith In You and Don’t Shut Me Down. The first is described as a gentle ballad while the other is more up-tempo.
ABBA have been using the latest technical wizardry to create avatars, or ‘ABBAtars’. These are holograms of the stars in their prime which will front entire shows on the tour with fully choreographed interactive performances.
While fans would naturally still love to see their idols now live, it will be extraordinary to see one of the biggest bands of all time recreated looking and sounding like they did in their heyday.
The Swedish icons were seen at Ealing Studios in West London which is not a music recording studio.
The famous studios are known worldwide for television and film production dating back to their recreation in 1902 and famously were the site for classics like The Ladykillers and The Lavender Hill Mob.
Interior scenes for Downton Abbey were shot there, along with recent movies like The Imitation Game and Shaun of the Dead.
The fact that ABBA were there is thrilling news for fans hoping for a new video or tour updates and indicates more work being done creating footage for the tour or motion-capture for the avatars.
According to an insider: “Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Frida have all recorded bits and pieces and they have enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane with it all.
“All four of them just wanted to give back to their fans, so they have done everything in their power to fly into London for the filming, despite the travel restrictions.”

ABBA were famously offered one billion dollars to reunite and tour again.
The chart-topping band turned it down. They have all independently said they prefer fans to remember them as they were. Meanwhile, their music continues to sell – as well as propel shows like Mamma Mia and the spin-off movies to global success.
