Captain Mark Howard, who is best known from the first season of Bravo’s “Below Deck Mediterranean,” has died at age 65.
A friend of Howards told TMZ that he died "suddenly" in his Florida home recently.
On Friday Bravo released a statement telling fans the Captain will always be a part of the Bravo family.
It read: “Our thoughts and sincerest sympathies are with the family and friends of the respected Captain Mark Howard
“As the captain of the first season of ‘Below Deck Med,’ he will always be remembered for his many contributions and mentorship and will forever remain part of the Bravo family.”
There has been no further information given about the cause of death or the exact date yet.
Howard's third stewardess Tiffany Jones added photos of herself and fellow crew members with Howard to social media.
She penned: “RIP Captain Mark Howard. You were a joy to be around.”
Captain Howard was an OG member of the Bravo series, which started back in 2016.
Howard was a yacht captain for nearly 30 years and also had a pilots license and enjoyed flying helicopters in his spare time.
He worked closely with his crew members and enjoyed being hands-on while prioritising the charter gusts.
Chief stewardess Hannah Ferrier also paid tribute to the Captain, calling him a great friend.
She said: "Rest in peace my friend. You were a great Captain, friend and colleague.
"Always the gentleman. You will be missed.”
Fans were quick to share their thoughts on the sudden passing to social media.
One wrote: “I am so saddened to hear of Captain Mark Howard’s passing. He was very kind.”
Another said: “He was sooooo sweet!!! RIP Capt. and may God bless and be with your family.”
A third added: “Oh no how incredibly sad.
“Really liked him on below deck. Thoughts and love to his family and friends . RIP Captain Mark.”
