Beyoncé and Jay Z have spent a majority of their musical careers in the spotlight and they are arguably the hottest power couple in showbiz.

When did Beyoncé and Jay Z meet?
Although not much is known about the start of their relationship, Beyoncé once revealed that she met the hip hop rapper on a flight when they were sat together on their way to the 2000 MTV Spring Break Festival.
Jay-Z later rapped about their first meeting on the couple's joint album Everything Is Love where he says: "We played it cool at the pool of the Cancun, VMA / Confidence you exude make the fools stay away / Me, I played my room, let the fools have they say / Fate had me sittin' next to you on the plane / And I knew straight away."
Where was their first date?
After almost a year of friendship, Beyoncé and Jay-Z went on their first date to famous sushi restaurant Nobu.
It is known that the rapper brought one of his close friends on the date, later mentioning in Everything Is Love that it was his "first foolish mistake".
However, the "foolish mistake" did not deter their relationship, with the couple going on to feature in their first track together, 03 Bonnie and Clyde, in October 2002, with chart-topper Crazy In Love being released just a few months later.
Two years after their first date, the couple made their first red carpet debut at the 2004 MTV Video Music Awards.

In 2006, Beyoncé hinted that she had wedding fever after seeing her sister Solange walk down the aisle.
She told Cosmopolitan magazine: " I don't know when I'll want to get married. I never pictured myself as a bride, but after my sister's wedding, I did start thinking about what kind of wedding I'd want. I don't think I want a big one."
Beyoncé and Jay-Z finally tied the knot two years later in a secret ceremony, without even announcing to the public that they were engaged.
The couple were spotted picking up a marriage licence in New York in April 2008 and it was later confirmed that they tied the knot on April 4, 2008.

What happened between Beyoncé, Solange and Jay-Z in the elevator?
Shortly after the release of Drunk In Love, footage surfaced of Beyoncé's sister, Solange Knowles, attacking her sister's husband in an elevator at the 2014 Met Gala on May 5.
It was speculated that Solange had lashed out at her brother-in-law over rumours he'd cheated on Bey.
The family later released a statement where they said: “There has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it.
"Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.
"The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behaviour throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

In 2017, Jay-Z seemed to admit to cheating on Beyoncé on his album 4:44, which is full of lyrics that hint at infidelity. He rapped: "I apologize, our love was one for the ages and I contained us / And if my children knew, I don’t even know what I would do / If they ain’t look at me the same / I would prolly die with all the shame."

The power duo continue to share glimpses of family life with their fans in magazine interviews and on Beyoncé's Instagram page.
