Janet Jackson has been slammed by fans both at home and in the crowd for phoning in for her debut performance at Glastonbury Festival.
Janet, 53, picked the wrong day to wear a heavy black tunic with trousers and boots, as temperatures at the festival soared into the high 20s but the bigger concern was that the backing track, and what live vocals could be heard, were incredibly quiet.
‘I’m missing Johnny Marr for this mimed set #JanetJackson,’ shared one disappointed fan at the festival.
‘Cheers for dancing but that’s not really what we’re here for.’
Another added: ‘Hate to be that guy and don’t get me wrong it’s still fun in the crowd but Janet Jackson appears to have achieved the impossible here at #glastonbury by being both out of tune and miming at the same time while also having sound problems with the vocals.’
Ouch.
‘Janet Jackson having dreadful issues with her microphone and kicking off with the sound stage guys,’ shared another viewer while one irate fan added: ‘The irony of #JanetJackson shouting “I can’t hear you!”‘
Janet’s stage time on Saturday afternoon put her up against American singer Lizzo,
it’s a battle of two very fierce divas in the form of Janet Jackson and Lizzo; it’s both the singers’ first time performing at Glastonbury and although Janet is the bigger superstar, Lizzo put on one thoroughly entertaining show.
