Kelly Osbourne says she did heroin as a teen because it was ‘cheaper’ than pills

TV personality Kelly Osbourne has always been extremely vocal with her fans regarding her drug addiction and her journey to recovery.

But now, the reality star has provided her supporters with more insight regarding her drugs and alcohol dependency and confessed that it all began when she was a teen.

Talking to Willow Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris for the Facebook Watch series Red Table Talk, Kelly, 36, gave further details on the origin of her substance abuse, admitting that she eventually abused heroin as her struggles escalated.

She also spoke openly about her recent relapse that took place earlier this year.

The rockstar daughter said her opioid addiction began when she was 13, after she was prescribed Vicodin due to an operation to remove her tonsils.

Kelly, who starred in MTV's The Osbournes with her family from 2002-05, said the drug was able to silence her insecurities and "felt like life gave me a hug."

Responding to her statement, Jada said: "Vicodin will do that."

Kelly also expressed that Vicodin led to her misusing Percocet. Percocet eventually led her to take heroin because in her words "it was cheaper".

The TV star spoke openly about her recent relapse in April and said the cause of it was due to the country opening up again after the pandemic.

Talking to ladies at the table, Kelly said: "I was alone, sitting by a pool and waiting for somebody to come have a meeting with me. And I saw this woman and her husband had a glass of champagne. It looked really nice and I was like, 'I can do that, too.'

"And the next day, I had two glasses. And the day after that, it was bottles."

Kelly also gave further details about her relapse when she spoke with Extra late last month.

She said: "I'm that girl that when everything is going great I need to f*** it up a little and make everything a little bit worse in my life. I am an addict and had thought that I had enough time under my belt and I could drink like a normal person, and it turns out I cannot and I will never be normal."

"It took me a matter of days and I was like done, not doing this.

"This is something I am going to battle for the rest of my life. It's never going to be easy."

When the reality babe relapsed in April, she took to Instagram to inform of her fans in a short video.

She said: "I relapsed. Not proud of it. But I am back on track,' she said. This is a little hard for me to talk about, but I’ve always promised you that I will always be honest with you about where I’m at and what’s going on in my road to recovery."
