Sir Brian May celebrates Queen drummer Roger Taylor’s 74th birthday

Roger Taylor discusses chemistry with Queen bandmates in 2016

It’s been 50 years since Queen released their debut album and despite Freddie Mercury’s untimely death and John Deacon’s retirement, Sir Brian May and Roger Taylor have very much been keeping the show on the road.

The rock legends are set to embark on a North American tour with Adam Lambert later this year and this month celebrate their birthdays.

The Queen guitarist turned 76 on July 19 and this week the drummer has turned 74.

Sir Brian celebrated his music partner, who he formed Smile with before Queen, on his Instagram.

He posted pictures of Roger with the caption “To my bro’ ROG.”

Playing over the post was Roger’s solo track Man on Fire from his 1984 second solo album Strange Frontier.

The official Queen Instagram account also paid tribute to the drummer who turned 74 yesterday with a collage of footage of him from across the years.

The post was captioned: “Happy Birthday to our one and only, RT!”

And just like Sir Brian’s post, this one had an audio track playing.

This time around it was Roger’s Queen song I’m In Love with My Car from their 1975 album A Night at the Opera.

The drummer later posted in his Instagram stories: “Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes! Too kind.”
