Alesha Dixon hasn't threatened to quit BGT over Diversity routine

Alesha Dixon has not threatened to quit Britain’s Got Talent if ITV apologises for Diversity’s controversial Black Lives Matter performance.

Over 15,500 people have complained to Ofcom since the dance troupe performed last Saturday and it had been reported that Alesha was prepared to bow out should ITV say sorry.

A source had told the Mail: ‘Alesha is absolutely furious and doesn’t think anyone should be apologising for anything.

‘Ashley is in a complete state over all of this and it has knocked his confidence. Alesha has spent the week supporting him and building him back up.

‘She is very sad about it all but staunchly stands by the dance. It is something she feels incredibly passionate about so if ITV were to say sorry, it would be understandably hard for her to continue.’

However, a rep for Alesha confirmed to Metro.co.uk that she has not threatened to quit the ITV show, ‘but she fully supports Ashley and Diversity’.

Alesha also quashed the report in a series of videos on her Instagram Story.

She branded the allegations ‘false and inaccurate’ adding, ‘the negativity and the character assassination that you guys try to do is just unacceptable.

‘I don’t know how you get away with it.’

Last week, Ashley Banjo and his dance troupe Diversity took to the stage with an emotional routine that looked back over the global protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death in the US.

While the number was praised by many, others flocked to television watchdog Ofcom in their drones with the controversial moment breaking 2020 records.
