BBC Breakfast aired a major format change when host Naga Munchetty left the studio – to present the programme live from Buckingham Palace.

Naga normally presents the flagship BBC show Thursday to Saturday – where she can be seen sitting on the red sofa next to her co-host Charlie Stayt.

However, the BBC star departed the Salford studio on Thursday (June 2) and instead appeared live from Buckingham Palace in London to report on the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend.

The Jubilee celebrations, which are set to mark Her Majesty's whopping 70 years of service, has seen Brits embark on a four-day weekend between Thursday and Sunday.

Naga was excited to welcome viewers to the front of the monarch's iconic palace as she kicked off the show.

Gesturing behind her, she said: "Take a look at this view over Buckingham Palace today. The sun is bathing it in glory. I think we've got the Queen Victoria statue just behind me.

"We're at the centre of this Jubilee holiday, which is finally here, and what we're going to do on Breakfast over the coming days is look ahead to the full series of events marking the Queen's 70 years on the throne."

She added: "We're going to keep you up to date. We're going to take you through everything that you need to know about this Jubilee weekend."

The camera panned to Brits clad in Union Jack flags who were already getting into the spirit of the Jubilee celebrations.

Naga also reassured viewers they would also be kept up to date on the latest news in the realms of sport, news and the weather.

The studio wasn't left unattended either as Naga's co-star Ben Thompson was there to anchor the rest of the show.

Later on, Naga spoke to the BBC's royal correspondent Nicholas Witchell who took viewers through what they could expect from the next four days.

Naga is not the first BBC Breakfast star to present from the palace, because weather star Carol Kirkwood delivered her forecasts from the Buckingham Palace gardens on Wednesday.

During the show she revealed she met the Queen three times and told viewers the monarch had a "good sense of humour".

She then joked she would soon be "escorted out" of the palace grounds after her co-star Jon Kay joked the Queen could be watching her from her window.
