Weather reporter Carol had just given an update on what people across the UK can expect weather-wise in the coming days on BBC Breakfast when host Naga asked her if she had any better news in her upcoming report. The BBC meteorologist however just gave a cryptic response about Scotland’s weather as Naga labelled her a “tease”.
Ending her report on Friday (June 24), Carol said: “There’s still a brisk wind but it’s not going to be a cold night – these are our overnight lows, between nine and about 15 degrees.
“I’ll have a much longer forecast looking deeper into the week in about half an hour, but now back to Charlie [Stayt] and Naga.”
“Are you going to bring sunshine in the longer forecast?” Naga asked the 59-year-old.
Carol refused to give much away, replying: “If you’re in Scotland and Northern Ireland, this weekend’s looking quite nice for you.
“I’ll just leave it at that.” Naga answered: “Oh okay – you tease! Thanks very much, see you later.”
Co-host Charlie chimed “Thank you, Carol.” It comes as the presenters had made several comments earlier in the show about the grey and dreary weather much of the country is waking up to today.
Earlier in the programme, BBC business correspondent Ben Thompson spoke to the duo via video link from Manchester Airport to discuss how holiday-makers will find out later today if any countries will be added to the government’s Green List.
When he appeared on the programme, Naga commented: “It’s grey and it’s a little bit misly there.”
She continued: “So, many people may be thinking ‘when, when can I get some guaranteed sun?'”
In a different update from Carol, Naga referred to the photo in the background of leaves and branches seeming to circle around the weather reporter.
“Look at you, you’re all framed, it’s like you’re taking shelter from the misly weather that we’ve seen,” she said.
“Poor Ben, out in the rain for us this morning,” to which Carol replied: “There’s a lot of low cloud around.”
Carol presents the weather on the BBC morning show and has worked at the broadcaster for more than 20 years, while Charlie presents the show alongside Naga from Thursdays to Saturdays.
The three often exchange jokey comments in between reports, and it seems today Naga was hoping for upcoming weather report “spoilers.”
Elsewhere in the show, Charlie interviewed British Marcus Livermore, who owns a bar in Majorca.
He explained how “business has been a struggle” with the changes in travel restrictions.
He continued: “We haven’t seen any British tourists coming up to a year now.
“And so it’s been hard, normally the season would kick off in Easter and we haven’t seen any of that.
“We have some Germans and Scandinavian and French coming through, but as for British, they’re just not here at the moment.”
BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
