Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) has been making Chantelle’s (Jessica Plummer) life a living hell in EastEnders, and he resorted to violence once more during last night’s second episode, leaving his wife in an extremely bad way, and — in the coming episodes — he discovers the extent of her injuries, and feels mortified as a result.
After learning that Mitch (Roger Griffiths) knew he’d lost his job, Gray jumped to conclusions and exploded at Chantelle — carrying out his most vicious attack thus far on his poor wife.
With the pressure of the situation with Whitney (Shona McGarty) getting to him, he sets out to rectify this in the coming episodes, while Chantelle does her best to hide her injuries from him, as she sets off and starts her new job at Kheerat’s (Jaz Deol) call centre.
However, later in the week, Gray discovers the extent of the injuries he inflicted upon Chantelle, and he’s mortified as a result.
He insists that such a thing won’t happen again, but Chantelle appears to be unconvinced, as she remains cold with her husband.
It wouldn’t be the first time that Gray has promised her that he wouldn’t hurt her only to do so again, but will Chantelle get the help she needs?
Later, Kheerat comments how impressed he is in regards to her work ethic, and Mitch (Roger Griffiths) offers her a helping hand as she struggles to maintain the balance between home and work life.
However, he later discovers Gray’s therapy card and Chantelle panics as a result.
Will Mitch perhaps uncover Gray’s abuse?
