BBC planning a new Strictly Come Dancing prime time show designed for amateurs

Strictly Come Dancing is reportedly making a brand new version of the BBC One show but for members of the public.

The new show, said to be called Clear The Dancefloor, will apparently see amateurs battle to win over a panel of celebrity judges.

According to reports, the show will also see the judges be armed with noisy buzzers, similar to those seen on Britain’s Got Talent.

According to The Sun, the production company Tuesday’s Child will start filming in front of a live studio audience in February.

A source told the publication: “The public can’t get enough of dance shows so the Beeb is keen to keep up with demand.

“There’s a lot of hope pinned on this sparkly new show and producers are hoping it will be a big hit.

“It’s light, fun entertainment, just what viewers need when there’s no Strictly to watch.”

OK! has contacted BBC for comment.

It comes as Strictly fans will have to wait until later this year for the new series when the next celebrity line up with be revealed.

The glitzy show, which is presented by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, is currently touring the UK.

This year’s Glitterball winners wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin and first-time winner Jowita Przystal are heading on the tour.

Jowita made Strictly history this year as the first time a new female dancer has ever won the series.

Other Strictly favourites Fleur East, Molly Rainford and Helen Skelton and professional partners Vito Coppola and Carlos Gu will be joining the line up too.

Earlier this week, Strictly professional Gorka Marquez revealed the reason he would be missing the live tour.

The three-time finalist replied to one fan who was asking him why he wouldn’t be there, saying: “After the Strictly series I always like to take some down time to spend quality time with Gem and Mia. I am grateful for the work but I also think spending time with family is important.

“Time flys and we won’t get these memories back.”
