Strictly: Layton Williams addresses scoring from Craig
Strictly Come Dancing professional Nikita Kuzmin admitted that he became emotional during his rehearsals for their Paso Doble after being in the bottom two. Nikita and Layton Williams were unfortunately in the dance-off last week with Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu.
For musicals week, the pair danced their hearts out to Backstage Romance from Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Their performance landed them a perfect score of 40 from the judges who were left blow away by their passion.
Nikita and Layton joined It Takes Two presenter Janette Manrara on Wednesday night to discuss how it felt to get the perfect score, alongside how they felt coming back from the dance-off and going into the semi-finals.
Janette asked: “A very powerful way to bounce back from the dance-off to come back with such a strong Paso Doble.
“How impressed were you with Layton’s response to the comeback?” to which he immediately replied: “Oh so impressed.

“Monday he came a bit struggling, it is really hard. But it is mostly, it is almost as if it was supposed to happen.
“He came in and he really really wanted to learn the deepness of the Paso Doble and I get so passionate when people want to learn.
“And he just wanted to learn ‘Why am I closing here? Why am I developing in action? Who am I? What character am I representing?’.
“On Wednesday night, we stayed so long on Wednesday and we tried to come back on such a good dance, I was like ‘Yes, yes that is the one’.”

Noticing he left out a minor detail, Layton pressed: “Tell them the truth, tell them the truth,” leaving Nikita to admit: “He danced so well on Wednesday night.
“He became such a true Latin-American dancer, that it actually made me emotional,” which left Janette to quip: “You cried?”
“Yes,” he admitted as Layton laughed and Nikita added: “It just means a lot when your student listens and they’re hungry and really wants to learn! It is just nice.”
Janette noted: “I think Layton that just speaks to what type of person you are.”
There was no elimination on Sunday as Nigel Harman was forced to pull out of the competition due to an injury.
Due to there being no public vote, it was announced that the judge’s scores for the dances would be carried over to next week.
Presenter Claudia Winkleman explained: “As you can see we only have four couples. Unfortunately, Nigel has sustained an injury which means he is unable to perform in tonight’s show and has had to withdraw from the competition.
“That means there will be no public vote tonight and no elimination this weekend.”
